Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable the student to acquire a thorough knowledge of a selected number of literary works, enabling them to develop a sophisticated critical consciousness and an awareness of the interrelationship between literature and society.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Evaluate the role played by literature in modern German society
LO2 Read literary texts in German
LO3 Analyse literary texts as works of literature
LO4 Critique literary texts and the role played by these texts in their social and political context in German society

This course will focus on a number of different literary genres; contemporary novel, drama, poetry or short story
Focus on reading texts of a literary nature in German
Discussion and Evaluation:
Focus on discussing and evaluating German texts of a literary nature
Focus on writing a critique of German texts of a literary nature.
