Module Description:The aim of this module is to familiarize students with important aspects of culture, society and politics of contemporary French, German and Spanish society, which will enhance their understanding of these countries.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Appraise and examine the role played by France, Germany and Spain in the development of the main architectural, artistic and literary movements in Europe.
LO2 Discuss the key contemporary political, social and cultural issues in France, Germany and Spain.
LO3 Explain the political, social and cultural relevance of a contemporary French, German and Spanish film.

Literature and the arts in France, Germany and Spain.
The lectures will examine the arts (art, architecture & literature) as an illustration of key political and social trends in Europe throughout the centuries.

Each semester students will view, analyse , and discuss three films ( one in French, German and Spanish).The film will be relevant to and illustrative of key social and political topics in France, Germany, and Spain
