Module Description:This module aims to provide the student with: The ability to carry out mathematical calculations that are frequently used in industry.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Calculate values using basic arithmetic rules and recognise the difference between accuracy and precision.
LO2 Rewrite numbers in scientific notation and calculate concentrations and dilutions.
LO3 Evaluate algebraic expressions, solve linear equations and rearrange formulae in terms of a different variable.
LO4 Interpret the slope of the line and compute the equation of the line.
LO5 Summarise statistical data using a frequency table, a histogram, frequency curve and measures of location and dispersion.
LO6 Calculate probabilities using the relevant laws or probability distributions.
