Module Description:To develop and apply research and innovation skills to a selected topic in the field of Electronic Engineering, to formulate a research and development project proposal following an investigation of a selected field of study, to devise a methodology to undertake the project, to design and develop the project prototype, to analyse results and derive conclusions, and to disseminate the results.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Apply appropriate project management method in planning and executing the project to a successful conclusion
LO2 Review state of the art in a chosen engineering topic and acquire necessary knowledge and understanding of the project area to develop a successful project proposal
LO3 Undertake the design and implementation of a major body of design work and validation and have justify decisions made and selections chosen from range of options
LO4 Demonstrate practical engineering skills such as hardware/software system construction, quantitative analysis, troubleshooting and testing
LO5 Demonstrate the ability to work alone or in team, to interact with peers and communicate with others in order to make progress
LO6 Maintain accurate record of project progress and results.
LO7 Effectively communicate the research and development undertaken in a continuously
LO8 relevant manner and in a written mini-thesis and research paper, oral presentations and demonstrations - taking into account academic and ethical standards. Effectively communicate to the general public by production of poster and verbal communication
LO9 Discuss the implications of their project and make recommendations for future work . Discuss the possible impact of the project on society and the environment
