Module Description:The aims of this module are: To provide students with an understanding of Information Technology in business; To bring students to a practical level of competency in business related IT tools, including spreadsheet design and their applications; To provide students with the skills to evaluate the role of Information Technology within a modern business setting and to understand the effect(s) IT has on people within an organisation.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Recognise the role of IT within the context of BusinessInformation Systems.
LO2 Describe the different types of software used in Business Information Systems.
LO3 Identify and examine the issues involved in the selection of hardware and software technologies.
LO4 Understand the requirement for Metrics, Disaster Recovery and Business Continutity within organisations.
LO5 Design and apply spreadsheet technologies for business applications.

Continuous Assessment Continuous assessment will take the form of three MS Excel computer assignments (5% in total). There is also one in-class laboratory test of 15%. 5 20.00 Week 11
Continuous Assessment Prepare a 1,500 work report, on a chosen topic covered in course. Prepare a 4 minute MP3 recording summarising the report and present to class using MS Powerpoint presentation. 1,2,3,4 20.00 Week 10
