Module Description:The aims of this module are: To identify the database and data warehouseing solutions most appropriate to various business situations; To successfully use a properly designed database for the retrieval of business information; To study the development process for Information Systems; To study emerging trends and technologies and their impact on Business Information Systems. To build a basic system for a business application.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Decide which database solutions are appropriate in given business situations.
LO2 Explain under what circumstances different development options are suitable.
LO3 Use a relational database for retrieval of business information.
LO4 Create & demonstrate an understanding of Entity Relationship Diagrams.
LO5 Describe and explain the principle stages of the systems development process.
LO6 To study emerging trends and technologies and their impact on Business Information Systems.
LO7 Design data requirements and input forms for a business application.
LO8 Analyse, design & implement a fully-functional basic business system using a relational database.
