Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable students to develop an appreciation of literature and film as an important means to understanding key issues in French, German and Spanish society, and to develop the students’ literary analytical skills, through analysis and discussion of the chosen literary texts and written assignments.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Recognise the importance of literature as a medium for understanding and explaining key issues in French, German or Spanish society.
LO2 Discuss and analyse key themes in the chosen literary works.

German Literature
Students will read, discuss and analyse a modern German novel. Discussion and analysis will focus on the way in which literature can provide us with a better understanding of German society in 20th/21st century.
