Module Description:The aim of this module is to develop students'research and analytical skills and to present their findings in the form of a 10,000 word dissertation.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Conduct qualitative research to answer a research question and conduct a sound qualitative research study
LO2 Evaluate the quality of published research
LO3 Conduct independent research and critically analyse their findings in a rational, cogent and cohesive argument.
LO4 Demonstrate effective planning and time-management skills
LO5 Present their findings using advanced academic writing and citation techniques in a 10,000 word written dissertation

Qualitative Methodology
Introduction to research methodology and overview of qualitative methodology. Mixed methods, quantitative and qualitative.SPSS training, basis statistics for research, interpreting statistics in research reports. Literature Review, Ethical considerations, questionnaire design & construction. Quantitative methodology & relationships between variables.
Critical Analysis
Critically examine and analyse the dissertation research topic
Structure & Cogency of Dissertation Argument
Present a rational, cogent and cohesive argument within the framework of the dissertation topic.
Dissertation Writing & Referencing
Use advanced academic writing skills, citation and referencing techniques (including footnotes and bibliography).
Effective Time Management
Dissertation planning, work schedule and time management.
