Module Description:The aim of this semester 4 module is to examine the purpose of land use planning in Ireland, its implications for the physical enviroment, its relationship with economic and social planning and the procedures involved in implementing the legal requirements to achieve a coherent and sustainable system of planning and development.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Discuss the importance of physical planning.
LO2 Outline the principal provisions of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 - 2002 and relevant regulations.
LO3 Describe the principal provisions and implications of the Planning and Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act, 2006.
LO4 Describe the procedures for development plans, planning applications, appeals and enforcement of planning control.
LO5 Discuss enviromental issues in relation to the planning and development process.
LO6 Describe the procedures for the acquisition of land by local authorities.
LO7 Explain the impact of planning on valuation issues.
