Module Description:The Project will provide the student with the opportunity to draw on a range of learning experiences gained in the academic programme and through prior experiential learning in the investigation of a topic relevant to the theme of the course and their own workplace. The project will allow the student develop an ability to approach a topic relevant to pharmaceutical production in a way that demonstrates descriptive and analytical skills and a substantial ability for independent critical thinking and self management. Rationale Students on this programme will have acquired considerable experiential learning as well as formal learning through their participation in the programme and their prior involvement in the National Certificate or equivalent. Most of the modules on the BSc programme are designed to develop particular knowledge in specialist areas relevant to the course theme. The Project module is included in this programme as it will allow students develop and demonstrate their ability to draw on the range of skills acquired as part of the course but also other personal and professional qualities. It provides a significant opportunity for the student to deal with a topic that provides a significant linkage to their workplace experience. The project is less prescriptive than other course content and will allow students approach the module with a degree of flexibility and individuality. It is intended to facilitate a variety of approaches and so will accommodate students from diverse backgrounds.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO2 Review relevant information from a variety of sources in deciding how to develop a project plan and a relevant methodology
LO3 Collect and collate relevant material in the execution of the project
LO4 Use networking skills in all aspects of the project

LO6 Use an objective/scientific approach in the execution and reporting of the project
LO7 Prepare an informative report that is concise and clear in content and layout
LO8 Effectively present their project to a peer group and the supervisory team
LO9 Defend the project in a viva voce
