Module Description:Provide an understanding of digital sequential logic design practices and memory devices. Develop skill in the construction, test and debug of digital circuits.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Design and build digital circuits using a range of synchronous and combinational elements, memory and MSI components
LO2 Use an oscilloscope and trigger modes ( single shot, multiple shot, external triggering) to debug digital circuits.
LO3 Determine synchronous circuit operating frequency from an analysis of component static timing data
LO4 Design circuits that meet I/O current, I/O voltage and fanout specifications of different logic families
LO5 Design circuits that interface to real world interfaces using debounce circuits, schmitt trigger interface, relays, pwm for LED brightness control, crystals, grey code encoders.
LO6 Create professional reports based on laboratory Assignments completed.
