Module Description:This subject aims to provide the student with the relevant fundamental theory required to understand basic telecommunication processes. On successful completion of the subject, the student will understand the analogue processes involved in analogue speech communications systems.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Describe the fundamental concept of a periodic signal using mathematical notation and spectral diagrams.
LO2 Construct simple LC based networks and test using a signal generator and oscilloscope.
LO3 Calculate basic modulation parameters using equations for AM and FM.
LO4 Describe the principles and techniques used in superhet radio receivers using block diagrams and relevant equations.
LO5 Examine the role of the Regulator(Comreg) in relation to Aerials.
LO6 Conduct lab experiments in compliance with department of electronic engineering laboratory rules.
LO7 Write a technical report on nominated Lab (Formal Report)
