Module Description:This module provides students with knowledge and skills required to design and implement advanced switched and Wireless network using best design practices (scalability, reliability, security and management). VLAN concepts, implications and implementation will be researched. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to to apply advanced IP addressing techniques & routing table population for efficiency and assess the impact on technologies.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explain the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a large complex networks.
LO2 Design, implement and troubleshoot a complex network using best practices (ease of management, security & scalability).
LO3 Design redundant networks incorporating load balancing and loop-free layer 2 topologies.
LO4 Explain the operation of a state of the art dynamic link-state routing protocol and implement such a protocol in an autonomous system.
LO5 Explain the fundamental operating principles of 802.11 WiFi networks, and implement infrastructure mode 802.11 networks using wireless Access Points
