Module Description:This module aims to provide the student with an understanding of Lean and six Sigma and their applications in identifying and resolving business problems.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Describe the concepts of Lean Thinking and Value Creation.
LO2 Describe the origin and principles of Six Sigma in identifying and minimizing variation in a given process.
LO3 Appropriately identify the techniques to map a process and recommend appropriate improvements.
LO4 Utilise the basic concepts of data collection,validation and analysis to correctly identify root causes and to implement solutions.
LO5 Correctly identify root cause and a corrective action preventative process (CAPA) of a defined problem with reference to current trends in the relevant industry.
