Module Description:This module provides the students with the ability to understand the language of business, namely Accounting. To be an effective manager you need to be financially literate rather than a financial expert. A fundamental understanding of finance equips managers to perform their own jobs better, communicate and contribute more effectively as part of a management team.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Investigate why financial statements are prepared and their need to comply with accounting standards and legislation.
LO2 Differentiate between External Accounts versus Internal accounts.
LO3 Interpret and analyse Company’s Financial Statements and company accounts.
LO4 Critique the role of Strategy in an organisation and how it relates to Financial Accounts
LO5 Evaluate company performance using budgeting and resource allocation
LO6 Critically analyse how to measure the operational performance.
LO7 Evaluate the key role of effective communication issued by the Finance Department (by understanding the key role of reporting, trends and techniques).
