Module Description:The module aims to give students a solid basic understanding of IS/IT in business including hardware, software, networks, data, information and knowledge systems. Learners also acquire a level of competency with productivity tools that not only supports their learning in other modules but also equips them with business documentation and team working skills.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate a competency in the design and production of business/academic documents to a professional standard.
LO2 Describe the basic hardware, software and network options available to business.
LO3 Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Information Systems in an Organisation.
LO4 Engage in group discussion & presentation of study & research findings.

Continuous Assessment The module assessment strategy supports the program assessment strategy by employing a combination of summative and formative assessment techniques that provide feedback and feedforward of learning, for learning and as learning (T&L Forum 2017). Assessment tasks can include skills tests, MCQs, research projects, problem based projects and exams. Evidence of learning can be provided through presentation of findings, process documentation and interviews. Judgement of learning can be based against lecturer developed and/or learner negotiated criteria.
