Module Description:This module, in conjunction with International Corporate Finance 2, aims to build on the theoretical and practical knowledge gained in Financial Management and Investment Analysis and give students an appreciation of the key strategic issues affecting company finance.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of corporate finance functions and goals.
LO2 Apply valuation techniques to assess share (company) and bond values. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the interaction between risk and return
LO3 Illustrate and evaluate conflicting capital structure theories. Describe the differing company valuations arising from such theories. Demonstrate the impact of real world influences on these theories.
LO4 Demonstrate a broad understanding of portfolio theory and inherent assumptions. Appraise efficient market theory and discuss its relevance in the context of share and bond markets.Outline the impact of these theories on the investor.
LO5 Identify, explain and evaluate corporate finance theories in the context of real-life business issues described in the business press.
