Module Description:The aims of this module are to: • Develop students awareness of approaches to constructing mathematical models for business problems • Develop mathematical skills relevant to management science • Equip students with the knowledge and technical expertise necessary to solve specific business problems
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Formulate a mathematical model for an optimisation problem. Interpret solutions of such problems and modify solutions to take account of changes in resources.
LO2 Solve two-dimensional linear programs graphically.
LO3 Solve linear programs by the simplex method.
LO4 Solve transportation and assignment problems using standard methods.
