Module Description:This module provides an overview of the functions and supervisory aspects of the accommodation department . It introduces students to the systems and procedures required for the successful operation of the housekeeping and accommodation department. It will be delivered through a mixture of theoretical and applied practical settings. It emphasises the importance of high standards in personal qualities and the provision of customer service.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate appropriate customer care and personal presentation in the accommodation establishment
LO2 Evaluate the operational and supervisory aspects of running an accommodation operation
LO3 Investigate the criteria for the purchase and range of furnishings, cleaning agents and equipment
LO4 Evaluate the role of security and safety in the housekeeping and accommodation department
LO5 Identify and understand best practice within the accommodation department of a hotel with an emphasis on current trends within the accommodation sector
LO6 Describe the key features of the linen and laundry departments
LO7 Explain the duties and organisation of the front office department
