Module Description:This module aims to provide the graduate with comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the areas of digital video production and post production. The student will be able to engage with and advance creative process in video production with an appraisal of how video interacts with other digital media platforms.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Produce a short dramatic or short documentary video for film festival submission, taking into account the technical, logistical, creative, design, management, legal and social media marketing requirements.
LO2 Develop a script and treatment to the standard required by a Commissioning editor
LO3 Evaluate the development of digital video technologies in film and documentary and its impact on post production and distribution
LO4 Develop audio post production skills in music for film, foley and sound effects creation, and mixing for picture.

Project In a production team mirroring industry best practices, the student will produce a short drama or short documentary to broadcast standards. The production will be graded on script, direction, editorial and technical quality. The production must also complete a production folder with all appropriate chain of title paperwork and include a social media marketing plan. 1,2,4 60.00 Ongoing
Reflective Journal The module journal is an individual record of the students work during the practical project. It will outline their role during the production phases, especially when extra-mural work is undertaken. The student will outline their role in the project at all stages of its development , show a use and understanding of terminology, display an awareness of health and safety and ethical issues, and evaluate and critique the project and the skills that they have learnt. 1,2,3,4 20.00 Ongoing
Practical/Skills Evaluation Appraise a documentary feature film in respect of its editorial and technical aspects. The student will undertake a technical study of a high quality documentary, outlining the codes and conventions of the chosen genre, secondly, the technical aspects that are used including cameras, sound, lighting, graphics, editing, thirdly, a short critical review of the programme. They will submit their assignment accompanied by a web link of the programme under study. 1,2,3,4 20.00 Ongoing
