Module Description:The aim of this module is to provide the learner with a strong economics foundation through understanding the key principles of how the micro economy functions and how it relates to the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. The concepts introduced in this module provide students with skills which can be applied in their career and provides a foundation for future modules.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explain alternative economic systems and how they impact on the students understanding of how the Tourism Industry functions
LO2 Differentiate between Micro and Macro economics
LO3 Demonstrate an understanding of the main influences that increase / decrease demand and supply & how prices are determined by the interaction of demand and supply.
LO4 Explain why a Tourism & Hospitality student might wish to know the price, income and cross price elasticity of demand.
LO5 Demonstrate an understanding of Production, Costs and Objectives of a Firm within the Tourism & Hospitality sector
