Module Description:To provide the student with knowledge of cell expression systems and the production of peptide-based therapeutics.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate a critical knowledge of animal cell culture methods, media formulation and quality control
LO2 Critically understand the importance of cell banks and cell line authentication
LO3 Describe and discuss different types of cell culture bioreactors, their principles of operation and spheres of application
LO4 Apply knowledge to optimise a final stage process and formulate a protein therapeutic
LO5 Critically analyse and describe current trends and future possibilities for protein therapeutics
LO6 Possess a critical awareness of peptide diversity and the role of proteomics in new drug development and discovery
