Module Description:The aim of this subject is to instil an understanding of the key architectures of NoSQL Database technologies and how they differ from relational database technologies from a physical and conceptual viewpoint. The student will also gain an appreciation of data warehousing from both a relational and non-relational database technologies viewpoint.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Discuss and explain the general principles of data warehousing.
LO2 Distinguish between the design choices taken in data warehouse environments compared with OLTP systems
LO3 Evaluate, operate and design for the NoSQL database paradigm
LO4 Demonstrate an understanding of the Hadoop Big Data environment and its frameworks
