Module Description:This module examines the key issues involved in the delivery of training and development programmes via e-learning. It addresses the challenges of selecting, designing and implementing e-learning programmes and highlights the need for organisations to adopt a strategic approach to ensure e-learning is effective.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the principles of learning and the process of instruction.
LO2 Apply the principles of instructional design to the development of a learning object.
LO3 Discuss the critical issues involved in the development of an appropriate e-learning strategy in an organisation.
LO4 Conduct a critical evaluation of an e-learning programme in terms of learning benefits and return on investment

Practical/Skills Evaluation Learners will undertake a mini-project which involves the design and development of a learning object. This assignment will normally be carried out in small groups and will be assessed in terms of the application of instructional design principles, the appropriateness of learning content for the target group, the adherence to e-learning standards and the overall effectiveness of the learning object as an instructional tool. Regular submissions of work will be required throughout the project timeline, i.e. storyboards, progress reports, buddy reviews and the final prototype. The assignment will also involve a class presentation to demonstrate the prototype. 1,2,4 30.00 Ongoing
