Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable the course participant to gain an appreciation of the pertinent issues in relation to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In addition, to develop the course participant's critical thinking ability, critical self reflection and synthesizing skills in order to effectively formulate, implement CSR strategies and develop a CSR audit framework for assessing CSR in practice.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate and evaluate the concepts of corporate social responsibility and the duty of care a company has to stakeholders and the environment
LO2 Define the concept of Global Corporate Citizenship and its implications for global organisations.
LO3 Assess the categories of socially responsible business behaviour
LO4 Examine the link between strategy and social responsibility
LO5 Demonstrate and interpret the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics in business, in creating a culture of sensitivity to the consequences of business decisions
LO6 Formulate a social responsibility strategy for an organization and a CSR audit framework for assessing CSR in practice in an organisation.

Continuous Assessment The continuous assessment will take the form of a group/individual project - an outline of which will be given the first week of term. A number of options will be considered, for example, the formulation of an audit framework to assess CSR within a company. Alternatively, an evaluation of a series of CSR reports from a stakeholder management perspective or an assessment of a pertinent CSR issue, such as child labour, environmental issues or labour practices, or the formulation of a CSR strategy in an organisation of the student's choice.There will be a number of workshop type sessions held prior to the submission date to assist and guide the students in the completion of their project. 1,2,3,4,5,6 40.00 Week 8
