Module Description:This module introduces the student to the issues that arise when we consider the security of computer networks and software systems including -
  • What is security and needs to be secured?
  • Security policies and mechanisms
  • How best to coordinate security across IT services
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explain the main issues surrounding information security.
LO2 Assess networks and computer systems for security weaknesses
LO3 Develop a security policy
LO4 Identify appropriate defense mechanisms in order to protect systems and data from data loss and or malisious attack
