Module Description:The aims of this module are: To give the learner an appreciation of the role of IT Governance in the function of modern business and operational life; To engage the learner with quality processes, standards and frameworks used in the IT sector and to To provide the learner with a clear understanding of regulation and compliance requirements in IT.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Classify and analyse IT Governance issues in an enterprise.
LO2 Identify and compare quality, regulatory and compliance issues in information system environments.
LO3 Evaluate the role of Data Governance and a Data Management Framework in an IT driven organisation
LO4 Recommend how to manage vendors by mitigating risk and optimizing benefits in an organisation

Continuous Assessment In the case of students' work experience organisation write a research paper outlining the specific legal, regulatory and compliance environment in which your company works. The report should include an outline of current practice, an identification of any areas for potential improvement and identification of emerging trends which will have an impact on the IT governance environment for the company.(May focus on a particular process or aspect of the business). 1,2,3 30.00 Week 4
Continuous Assessment Research Report - Case study II: Consider yourself an external consultant. Identify a specific control object(s) in the COBIT (or equivalent) framework and analyse an organisation of which you have personal knowledge in terms of its application of that control. 1,2,3,4 30.00 Week 8
