Module Description:The aim of the group project is to prepare students to work in project teams and integrate technical knowledge in design, processes and materials with the soft skills required for effective teamwork. A further aim is the development of creative problem solving skills. The aim of the Environmental Technology section is make students aware of the need for consideration of environmental matters with regard to project work.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Design, develop and evaluate an engineering solution to a group task, within budget, performance and time constraints.
LO2 Work effectively as a member of a team.
LO3 Formulate objectives, manage a project and self organise.
LO4 Participate and act as facilitator in group management and problem solving.
LO5 Apply graphics, design and materials knowledge to a group task.
LO6 Source and price engineering components.
LO7 Write a project report.
LO8 Develop a project poster and make a presentation.
LO9 Consider the relevant pieces of environmental legislation and environmental management requirements for projects.
