Module Description:This module introduces key mathematical concepts that underpin computer technologies such as number bases, Boolean algebra and sets. The student learns how these concepts relate to much of the functioning of modern digital technology.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Convert between different number bases
LO2 Perform Binary arithmetic
LO3 Explain how information is represented and manipulated in a computer
LO4 Perform computations using Boolean algebra
LO5 Apply Boolean algebra in Digital Systems and Propositional Logic
LO6 Draw & interpret graphs of functions (including piecewise linear) given in maths and computing notation
LO7 Identify the domain and range of functions.
