Module Description:This module will allow students to further develop their understanding of children’s development from 0-12 years. The emphasis on cognitive, socio emotional and moral development will explore the developmental stages from a range of psychological perspectives with an emphasis on the implications of learning in early childcare settings.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Recognise and discuss theories of development in the 0-12 year old child in relation to social, cognitive and moral development
LO2 Define the role of early childhood professionals in the development of positive behaviour and prosocial behaviour
LO3 Explain the key stages in children’s development of understanding of self and gender
LO4 Identify and explore the importance of moral development in children
LO5 Demonstrate an ability to relate an understanding of key child developmental stages to working in early childhood settings
