Module Description:This module aims to introduce students to the benefits of art and music in early childhood development. This module focuses on the mediums of art and music as open-ended, fun and essential experiences for young children. It is also intended to offer students the opportunity to engage in the process of experiential learning. The student will reflect on art and music based activities
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Explain the theoretical framework underpinning the concept of children's development through art and music and identify how creativity is fostered in young children with a focus on the role of the adult.
LO2 Examine and explore how creative activities supports children's development and engage with and design a variety of creative activities to for young children.
LO3 Explore the significance of schemas in art.
LO4 Illustrate a knowledge of the Kodaly approach to music education.
LO5 Demonstrate how tools such as nursery rhymes. Songs and percussion instruments promote the child's holistic development.
