Module Description:This module provides students with the opportunity to link classroom learning with work-based practice and facilitates the development of practice skills in an early years environment. The Placement affords the student the opportunity to “test out” their knowledge and skills within the safety of a well-structured and supervised work setting with the direction of an experienced, competent professional. Students are expected to be supernumerary to the staff complement of the work centre.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate a willingness to interact and communicate with children
LO2 ­Practice skills and abilities relevant to a nominated early years setting
LO3 Demonstrate the ability to link ECCE theory to practice in the ECCE setting, recognising best practice
LO4 ­Identify their practice strengths and areas for further development as emerging practitioners
LO5 ­Discuss the need for professional ethical standards, the need for confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace.
LO6 Work creatively and constructively to facilitate engagement within the early years setting, thereby confirming one’s own competence and confidence to engage in a full-time professional practice
