Module Description:The aim of this module is to enable the student to gain an appreciation of the pertinent issues in relation to Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. To develop the student’s critical thinking ability, critical self reflection and synthesizing skills in order to effectively formulate and implement corporate social responsibility strategies and policies.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Evidence an understanding of the concepts of sustainability and corporate social responsibility and the duty of care a company has to stakeholders and the environment
LO2 Evaluate the categories of socially responsible business behaviour
LO3 Examine the link between strategy, social responsibility and sustainability
LO4 Analyse issues regarding the legal, moral and ethical issues in business and to create sensitivity to the consequences of business decisions
LO5 Examine the principles of sustainability within the context of the tourism industry and develop critical awareness of the issues and challenges facing the tourism industry.

Project The continuous assessment will take the form of a group/individual project - an outline of which will be given the first week of term. A number of options will be considered, for example, a critical analysis of the corporate social responsible and sustainable business practices of an international hospitality or tourism company/organisation.
